You know what they say, Never Assume…

…It just makes an ASS out of U & ME! My grandma always used to tell us grandkids that, and it’s something that’s stuck with me. (That and ‘a bunch’ is for bananas, not a group of people, lol.)

As business owners, we should never assume our potential clients and customers know anything about our business, who we are, or what we sell. It’s essential to provide them with concise and clear information upfront and make it easy for them to find us and buy what we’re selling!

The ideal goal of social media is to drive them to your website to learn more and buy your product or service, so if they have to take too much time to figure out what that is and where to find it, they just won’t.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve scrolled through Instagram and stopped to look at a beautiful, professional photo of a product I’m interested in, only to click their profile to learn more and find it’s almost like a dead end. The location isn’t there, so they could be in the US, Ontario, or local to Vancouver Island. There isn’t a clear way to find where and how to buy, and their website isn’t clickable or is a dead link. Unfortunately, like most others, I’ll just scroll on and likely never see that post again, leading to a missed opportunity for a sale.

**Your bio should include your Name, Business Name, Location (city if you sell online or offer a service, or the address of your physical storefront - don’t just simply put 2450 Maple St., make sure to include the city - Never Assume!), and your website link to learn more.

The Title in Bold in your Bio is what comes up when people search on Instagram. It should include your name, business name, and if there’s room, your city. Most people will forget either your business name OR your first name, so give them both options just in case!

Include a hook - why should they learn more?

There is no magic formula to social media, and truly it’s all trial and error. However, what you can do is make it easy for your customers and clients to find you and click over to your website to learn more and SHOP!
